Lead Me To The Rock

From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I Psalm 61:2

It’s safe to say that a lot of people are feeling at least a little overwhelmed right now. I mean, in my lifetime there has been nothing that compares to what we are all experiencing with COVID 19. Fear is running rampant across the earth, and has hit the USA hard.

Just before the scare hit our nation, I was meditating on Psalm 61:2 “From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” I studied it out a little and the Holy Spirit ministered to my heart. Here are a couple things we can learn from this verse:

When my heart is overwhelmed-

To be overwhelmed is to feel submerged, swamped, flooded- even defeated and covered with woe. Sounds dramatic but, if you’ve experienced it, you get it! Fear can definitely make you feel that way. When you feel overwhelmed, you feel a heaviness pressing down on you. Thoughts try to torment and it’s just a big mess. But this is not what the Lord desires for us and there is a way out, no matter the circumstance or situation.

Lead me to the rock that is higher than I-

Here you picture the image of an elevated rock. This represents a place ABOVE the circumstance, a place of security and firm footing. King David called it a “rock that is higher than I” because he could not get there without the help of his God. The circumstances were too strong for him. But He knew God and He knew there was a place in God far above the terrible circumstances surrounding him. In fact, several times in the Bible, David refers to God Himself as his Rock. That was where he would find deliverance.

Do you need a place of security in this time of unrest? Do you need a Rock to run to? Jesus made a way for you to know a security like no other- a peace that surpasses understanding- a place above the fear. This peace and security can only be found in Him, but it is a benefit and gift to all who will receive it through Jesus.

No one wants you to experience this security in every situation more than the Lord Himself. He is forgiving, loving, redeeming, merciful, and compassionate. He is for you and not against you. Just repent for not trusting in this powerful, loving God and receive what the Lord Jesus paid for you to have. Dare to believe His Word. Dare to Trust Him. Believe me, it’s way better than staying in fear and being overwhelmed by life circumstances!

The goodness of God is healing and refreshing. Ask Him to lead you to the Rock today!

Don’t forget to saturate yourself in the Word of God during these times and always.
