Lead Me To The Rock

From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I Psalm 61:2

It’s safe to say that a lot of people are feeling at least a little overwhelmed right now. I mean, in my lifetime there has been nothing that compares to what we are all experiencing with COVID 19. Fear is running rampant across the earth, and has hit the USA hard.

Just before the scare hit our nation, I was meditating on Psalm 61:2 “From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” I studied it out a little and the Holy Spirit ministered to my heart. Here are a couple things we can learn from this verse:

When my heart is overwhelmed-

To be overwhelmed is to feel submerged, swamped, flooded- even defeated and covered with woe. Sounds dramatic but, if you’ve experienced it, you get it! Fear can definitely make you feel that way. When you feel overwhelmed, you feel a heaviness pressing down on you. Thoughts try to torment and it’s just a big mess. But this is not what the Lord desires for us and there is a way out, no matter the circumstance or situation.

Lead me to the rock that is higher than I-

Here you picture the image of an elevated rock. This represents a place ABOVE the circumstance, a place of security and firm footing. King David called it a “rock that is higher than I” because he could not get there without the help of his God. The circumstances were too strong for him. But He knew God and He knew there was a place in God far above the terrible circumstances surrounding him. In fact, several times in the Bible, David refers to God Himself as his Rock. That was where he would find deliverance.

Do you need a place of security in this time of unrest? Do you need a Rock to run to? Jesus made a way for you to know a security like no other- a peace that surpasses understanding- a place above the fear. This peace and security can only be found in Him, but it is a benefit and gift to all who will receive it through Jesus.

No one wants you to experience this security in every situation more than the Lord Himself. He is forgiving, loving, redeeming, merciful, and compassionate. He is for you and not against you. Just repent for not trusting in this powerful, loving God and receive what the Lord Jesus paid for you to have. Dare to believe His Word. Dare to Trust Him. Believe me, it’s way better than staying in fear and being overwhelmed by life circumstances!

The goodness of God is healing and refreshing. Ask Him to lead you to the Rock today!

Don’t forget to saturate yourself in the Word of God during these times and always.

He Came To Serve

Jesus pouring waterToday is what much of the Church world calls Maundy Thursday- the day we remember The Last Supper of Jesus with His disciples- the Passover. I was reading through this passage in the Bible recently, and the thing that struck me the most this time was how Jesus washed the feet of his disciples before eating together. In John 13:13-17, Jesus says, “13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. 16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant[a] is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.”

I thought as I read this that if Jesus said he did this as an example to us- that we should also wash one another’s feet- maybe I should focus on this a little more and look into what he really meant for us to do.

Just a quick google search of foot washing will tell you that in bible times, people did not wear shoes that would protect their feet from becoming dusty from their travels. They wore sandals with leather straps. In that time, it was custom to have clean feet  at the dinner table. They would sit on the floor at a very low table, and no one wanted to be looking at dirty feet while trying to enjoy their food.

Washing feet was a dirty, nasty job, but someone had to do it. Friends did not typically wash friends’ feet, but providing a foot washing was a way to show honor to a guest. And it was always the lowest servant of the household that got that assignment. No wonder Peter was appalled at the thought of Jesus washing his feet (John 13:8).

But Jesus said, “I have given you an example.” He did the most menial task. He became the lowliest servant. He took the most humble place. Matthew 20:26-28 says, “…But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Jesus’s ultimate act of service, giving his life as a ransom for us, is so unthinkable, so unimaginable, but so true. What a Savior!

So my prayer as I read these things became more fervent. Change my heart, Lord. Let it be real. I want to follow Your example. Show me how to do this more.  Show me more about true humility.

For some reason, that seems like a scary prayer every time I pray it! But still I pray it. How about you?

Have a wonderful weekend celebrating Jesus- King of kings, Lord of lords, Servant of all.

Vision: America And The Lion Of Judah

Early Sunday morning, January 13th, 2019, I had an experience with the Lord as I was in prayer. This may be a controversial post, but, here it is as I remember it.

Part 1: There was a seriousness in the air and I asked the Lord what was going on. I began to see the Lord in my spirit and He was putting on battle garments. He had a determined look but He was stunning.

Part 2: The vision switched to the White House. I saw the Oval Office and the President under attack by what seemed like hordes from hell. There were angels holding them back , but barely. The impression I got was that the prayers of the saints were holding back the hordes, but help was needed.

Part 3: The vision returned to Jesus  in His battle garments. Suddenly, He became an enormous Lion. He was absolutely beautiful but fierce. I thought, “He’s going to the White House”. But He began to run across America. There I saw many dejected, downhearted, even rejected people (but seemingly not bitter) feeling like they had no purpose. The Lion began to find these people and breath on them. He seemed to be calling them to follow Him. All of those He breathed on were filled with awe of the Lord and gratefulness. They seemed to have renewed purpose and absolute devotion to the Lion . They began to run in unity with the Lion with the same determination that He had.

Part 4: The Lion led the people to the White House. He entered the Oval Office in all His Majesty and Authority.

That was the end of the vision, but it seemed also to be the beginning of something major.
